22 Art Street – A Journey of Passion, Purpose, and People
Sk. Safik’s journey into the world of art began at the young age of 14. What started as a modest roadside picture-framing profession soon grew into an extraordinary path that connected him with some of the country’s most prominent artists. While framing their artworks, he discovered his own passion for painting, a spark that would soon shape his life’s mission.
In 2010, Safik held his first exhibitions at the Academy of Fine Arts and other renowned galleries in Kolkata. These milestones laid the foundation for what would become his life’s work: the creation of 22 Art Street.

The Birth of 22 Art Street
Founded in 2010, 22 Art Street was established with a clear vision: to provide a platform for underprivileged individuals and people from all walks of life who love art, regardless of whether they are professional artists. The group has showcased works by IPS officers, school teachers, homemakers, students, and emerging talents—giving everyone an equal opportunity to express their creativity.
After the global COVID-19 pandemic, the collective officially embraced the name “22 Art Street,” symbolizing resilience and a fresh beginning.
The Journey So Far
For the past five years, 22 Art Street has consistently organized group exhibitions at the India Habitat Centre in New Delhi, a hub for cultural and artistic expression. Beyond Delhi, the group has extended its presence to other vibrant cities including Goa and Bangalore.
The next India Habitat Centre exhibition is scheduled for August, continuing the group’s mission of bringing together diverse artistic voices under one roof.
More Than Exhibitions – Art With a Purpose
22 Art Street is not limited to exhibitions. The collective also conducts art workshops, with all proceeds directed towards helping underprivileged and needy people. This selfless initiative has attracted the support of many celebrated artists, patrons, and art lovers who believe in the cause.
The Core Mission
At its heart, 22 Art Street’s mission is simple:
As long as the group exists, it will stand by the common people, the poor, and the helpless.
The blessings and encouragement received from the art fraternity and the wider community have fueled this journey. Moving forward, Sk. Safik and 22 Art Street remain dedicated to building a bridge between art, compassion, and community.
