DEEPTI J. SHAH

Women’s Voice in Silence

Women’s Voice in Silence, a solo exhibition by contemporary artist Deepti J. Shah, is currently on view at Jehangir Art Gallery, Mumbai, from 29th September to 5th October 2025. Founder of Artzy’s Studio, Deepti has been deaf since infancy and discovered painting as her deepest form of expression. Over the past two decades, she has created more than 50 wall paintings, won the Best Interior Award by A & I Magazine (2004), and was awarded the SPIC MACAY scholarship in 2010 for advanced training with Guru Tanul Vikamshi. Her works have reached audiences across India, USA, Dubai, and the UK.

Deepti’s art transforms silence into visual poetry, guided by her philosophy that “silence is not emptiness; it is a language of color, gesture, and memory.” Her murals and canvases blend bold textures with intricate details, reflecting women’s resilience, rituals of daily life, and the quiet strength of communities.

The ongoing exhibition invites visitors to journey from large public murals to intimate canvases, encouraging them to pause, observe, and experience the unspoken power of silence translated into art. Women’s Voice in Silence offers a rare opportunity to witness Deepti’s profound expression and her ability to communicate beyond words.
