Artist Srinidhi Dabriwal brings nature-filled canvases, sculptures to solo exhibition in Delhi
An upcoming solo art exhibition by Hyderabad-based nature artist Srinidhi Dabriwal will be on display at Convention Foyer, India Habitat Centre, New Delhi from December 10th-14th, 2024, inviting art lovers to soak in canvases and sculptures from three series — Jungle, Circle of Life, and Botanika. Taken together, her recent works offer an immersive art experience, reimagining our bond with nature and the creatures we share it with, while encouraging a deeper contemplation on our narratives within.
In ’Inner Wilderness’, the contemporary artist with over two decades of artistic practice, explores themes of self-discovery, identity, and a compassionate reconnection with nature. Her body of work, over the years, continuously explored the interplay between human emotion and the natural world.
“’Inner Wilderness’ is a re-imagination of our bond with nature. By seeing the softer side of wild animals, finding balance in life’s cycles, and celebrating the vitality of nature. This exhibition invites viewers to reconnect with both their inner selves and the world around them,” says artist Srinidhi Dabriwal.
Through Jungle series, she re-examines the commonly held perceptions of animals often labeled as “ferocious” or “cunning.” In this series, she depicts animals like lions, tigers, zebras and jaguars as gentle, approachable beings. This series serves as an ecological reminder that our perceptions can impact how we value and protect these creatures.
Her ‘Circle of Life’ series — inspired by the timeless wisdom of the Bhagavad Gita — reflects the cyclical nature of existence and the journey of the soul, using semi-abstract circular forms. Themes such as The 5 Elements, The Sun, and Unalome invite viewers to explore ideas of growth, identity, joy, and self-discovery, while also emphasizing the importance of integrating nature into these cycles.
Rich greens, earth tones, and organic shapes mark her ‘Botanika’ series, which celebrates the boundless energy and beauty of the natural world. Through vibrant hues and dynamic motifs inspired by botanical forms, each piece pulses with life, creating a sense of tranquillity and happiness.
Among Dabriwal’s latest explorations in her artistic journey is a captivating Sculpture series called ‘Rooted Stories’ — which continues her signature theme of imagined geographies, seamlessly intertwining the worlds of books and nature. Each piece features a “book spine” with abstract designs representing unique themes, while the front captures nature in its pure, vibrant form. For instance, her work, ‘Echoes of Time’ emphasises the passage of time in both reading and connecting with nature.
