‘rECOrds’ was one such exhibition of 103 artists who painted 133 art works on the old scratched vinyl records. The discarded records became pieces of arts with varied kinds of paintings depicting nature, abstract, realistic & decorative art. The concept was put together by Speaking Art Foundation and Records Manya. The show was held at the Lokayata Art Gallery at the Hauz Khas Village, New Delhi. It is an aesthetically designed gallery adding to the beautiful vibrant art works. Inaugurated by Sh. Roop Chand (Chairperson) National Delhi Bureau Art Centre, Gurgaon, Ambassador of Israel Mr. Naor Gilon, Taslima Nasreen (Novelist) and Neeraj-Remi Directors of Speaking Art Foundation along with the Co-organiser Manya Records. Chief Guest the ambassador said the idea of reusing the material to create new artefacts is a great sustainability initiative. The efforts put together are for a noble cause of donating the part of proceeds to the cancer patients. Eminent artist Shri Roop Chand ji shared his encouraging and appreciating words for this noble concept and the efforts of the artists who contributed whole heartedly for the cause. What better way to celebrate Earth Day than by putting to use these old/ scratched vinyls and making them into works of art! So when art reaches its ‘vinyl’ destination, records are made. With the idea of recycling or reusing waste material to create art, this concept of painting vinyl records was thought of. When records stop playing, start playing with them. Organised by: Speaking Art Foundation (India) in collaboration with Manya Records (Israel) Occasion: Earth Day celebration through Visual Art.
