The exhibition aims to present a diverse array of Jain’s sculptures, encompassing her most iconic creations, providing an unparalleled opportunity to immerse in her distinct style of cubism, which she developed as her own language within modern sculpture. The tribute was organized by Payal Jain, an accomplished fashion designer, in memory of her aunt, the late Saroj Jain. Payal Jain shared that her “masi” (aunt) devoted her life to art, infusing her creations with profound affection and crafting a distinct artistic language in the realm of sculpture. Saroj Jain’s quiet, simple, committed, passionate, spiritual, and affectionate demeanor endeared her to family, friends, students, and colleagues alike.

Kiran Chopra, an esteemed Curator, Writer, and Sculptor, reflected on Saroj Jain’s enduring commitment to imparting her knowledge and expertise to her students, nurturing a fresh generation of sculptors to continue her legacy. In line with this vision, the Saroj Jain Sculpture Awards were introduced this year in three prominent Indian art universities: Sir JJ School of Art, Mumbai; Viswa Bharti, Shanti Niketan; and Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi.

Born in 1936, Saroj Jain dedicated her life to exploring the boundless frontiers of abstract forms and compositions, pushing the sculptural boundaries to craft pieces that are not only aesthetically captivating but also intellectually stimulating. In recognition of her exceptional work, she was honored with the Sahitya Kala Parishad and AIFAACS Awards. Her leadership as the Head of the Sculpture Department at Triveni Kala Sangam spanned over four decades. Saroj Jain’s artistic creations have graced esteemed galleries and museums worldwide, finding a distinguished place in the private collections of eminent institutions such as the National Gallery of Modern Art, New Delhi; Lalit Kala Akademi, New Delhi; and the Delhi College of Art, New Delhi.
