Record-breaking 5,555 artworks cantered around the same theme: the peacock
Delhi-based artist Mohi Jaya, affectionately known as the “Peacock Girl,” made history with her solo exhibition, “Colourful Dreams,” held at Lokayata Art Gallery from September 6th to 9th, 2024. Mohi Jaya achieved an extraordinary feat in the art world by creating a record-breaking 5,555 artworks centered around a single theme: the peacock, India’s national bird. This monumental accomplishment highlighted her unwavering dedication to a subject that symbolizes integrity, beauty, and spiritual enlightenment, deeply resonating with her artistic vision.
Drawing from the peacock’s rich cultural significance in Hindu mythology and Indian history, Mohi Jaya’s work blended traditional Indian folk art, particularly Madhubani, with modern techniques. Her vibrant fusion of acrylics and oils, adorned with intricate designs and contemporary elements, brought new life to this ancient symbol.
Beyond her painting prowess, Mohi Jaya demonstrated her versatility across various mediums, including craft, digital art, terracotta, woodcuts, ceramics, and photography.
