Contemporary Artist Jiban Krishna Thakur Explores the Emotional Bond Between Humans, Nature, and Birds Through Symbolic Visual Language
Contemporary artist Jiban Krishna Thakur from Kolkata, West Bengal, is presenting his 4th Solo Exhibition at the prestigious India Habitat Centre, Convention Foyer, Lodhi Road, New Delhi, from 25 May to 29 May 2026. Open daily from 10 AM to 8 PM, the exhibition showcases a compelling series of abstract works exploring the emotional and spiritual relationship between humans, nature, and birds.
Born in Chandrapur, Bagnan, Howrah, Jiban Krishna Thakur completed his Bachelor of Visual Arts (BVA) and Master of Visual Arts (MVA) from the Government College of Art & Craft, Kolkata. Working across watercolour, acrylic, ink, and mixed media on canvas and paper, the artist has developed a distinctive visual language rooted in intuition, symbolism, and inner reflection. In his compositions, birds emerge as symbols of hope, dreams, and freedom, while trees metaphorically represent life, roots, and emotional belonging.
Over the years, the artist has participated in several notable solo and group exhibitions at venues including Academy of Fine Arts, ICCR Kolkata, Gaganendra Art Gallery, Altamira Art Gallery, Raja Ravi Varma Gallery Pune, and Jahar Kala Kendra Jaipur. He has also received honours such as the Best Artist Award by Vista Art Society and Master of Art by Colour Wings.
Through meditative abstraction and expressive forms, Jiban Krishna Thakur continues to contribute a unique voice to contemporary Indian art.
