ARTIST ANURAG ANAND UNVEILS HIS LATEST SERIES “ROOTS”
at the India Habitat Center from April 9 -13
Artist Anurag Anand :
Anurag Anand, by now a familiar name in the world of visual art, also dabbles between a high-pressure corporate job and writing books. Anurag’s fourteenth book, a historical fiction novel, titled, “The Crimson Throne of Mahoba” has been released recently and is receiving rave reviews from its readers. However, Anurag’s true passion lies in art. Unfettered by linguistic constraints, he paints vivid narratives inspired by life’s nuances and experiences.
His self-taught approach towards art embraces diverse mediums, capturing the vibrant spectrum of human emotions in colourful hues. Anurag’s artistic pursuit in his words reads, “My art is a compendium of my observations; life viewed from my lens. There is no pretentiousness to it. No burden of conformity or aesthetic orthodoxy. No stylistic limitations. Just a plain and unbridled expression.”
In his upcoming exhibition titled, “Roots,” Anurag transports viewers to a world of tranquillity, reconnecting them with their origins (“their roots” – be it in an urban or rural setting, capturing the very essence of lifescapes). Inspired by his travels and personal memories, from childhood – nostalgia to existential reflections – Anurag’s narratives provoke introspection. His artworks blend the intricacies of architecture with the essence of nature to evoke a cerebral response among his viewers. As a storyteller, Anurag deftly uses his art to tell stories that engage the onlookers at multiple levels. His artworks are a part of several collections across the globe and can be viewed at some prominent galleries of Delhi NCR including Uchaan Arts, Quill & Canvas, Vibha Arts and Gallerie Ruki.
Anurag was bestowed with the Bangiya Kala Upaasnaa Award in 2022 for his artistic excellence. His works have been discussed and covered in numerous publications such as The Indian Express, Times of India and Art and Soul Magazine, to name a few. Experience Anurag’s transformative art firsthand at the “Roots” exhibition series, hosted at the Convention Foyer Gallery, India Habitat Centre, New Delhi, from April 9th to 13th, 2024 from 11:00am to 7:00pm.
