KHAYAAL (RUMINATION)

An Exhibition of Drawings by Artist Vaibhav Naik

at Kamalnayan Bajaj Art Gallery, Bajaj Bhavan, 226 Nariman Point, Mumbai from 20th to 26th March 2023

Artist Vaibhav Naik

“I am an artist with a classical training, dedicated to delving into the emotions evoked by the scenes before me in any given moment. Utilizing the technical prowess and aesthetic sensibilities I have meticulously cultivated over time, I have had the privilege of learning from diverse mentors, each offering their unique approaches. These experiences have profoundly shaped my artistic perspective and enriched my life journey.

Through my creations, I strive to decode my subjects in an abstract manner, even as the end result remains rooted in representation. Guided by my creative process, I revel in refining sections of my work and embracing spontaneity, persistently pursuing the precise expression I seek. This approach enables me to continually seek designs that transcend time, capturing the fascination of a broad audience, regardless of their familiarity with art.

This exhibition will be inaugurated on 20th March, 2023 at 4 pm. At Kamalnayan Bajaj Art Gallery, Mumbai by Chief Guests – Gazal Nawaz Shri. Bhimrao Panchale & Eminent Artist – Mr. Vijay Achrekar in presence of many art lovers, patrons etc.

My heritage holds immense significance for me, as I firmly believe that one’s origins hold a wellspring of answers. Currently, I have elected drawing as my medium of experimentation and expression. In each new project, I intentionally set challenges for myself, nurturing my artistic evolution. One such avenue involves the harmonious integration of diverse materials—charcoal, graphite, white chalk, acrylics, and pastels—within my drawings. This deliberate choice has also informed my current exhibition, ‘Khayal’.

I find no compulsion to adhere to societal trends, as my primary focus remains on staying true to my craft and relishing the aspects I derive pleasure from. Should my work resonate with viewers along the way, I believe that is the essence of art coming to life.”
