“Whispers of Paradise” is a poignant reflection of Moonmoon’s cherished childhood memories during frequent visits to Kashmir, capturing the region’s ethereal beauty and intricate emotional landscape. Through her art, she portrays Kashmir’s resilience amidst chaos and its allure amidst turmoil, using vibrant strokes and evocative hues. This exhibition promises to be a journey into the heart of Kashmir, unveiling its secrets and whispers through Moonmoon’s profound and soulful artistry.

“Through vibrant strokes of solidarity and hopeful hues, the ‘Whispers of Paradise’ series captures the ethereal beauty of Kashmir — the flower man, floating markets, shikara rides on Dal Lake, snow-capped mountains, and warm cups of Kahwa, all infused with rustic charm and nature’s allure. I use symbols like water lilies and heart-shaped red oars (“chappu” in Hindi) to evoke love amidst Kashmir’s environment – a state of chaos and conflict. Faces are sometimes shown in red and blue colour to symbolize contrasting emotions: red for fear and blue for calmness, representing resilience and maintaining a delicate balance between the two,” says Moonmoon Bhagchandka.

Her previous exhibition, “Last Good Nerve,” enchanted viewers with an introspective take on Kashmiri life through dreams and metaphors. While the “Whispers of Paradise” series continues this narrative, offering a fresh, immersive experience that transcends the confines of the canvas.

Experience the enchanting beauty of Kashmir through the eyes of artist Moonmoon Bhagchandka from May 26-28, 2024, at the Open Palm Gallery, India Habitat Center, New Delhi. The exhibition is open from 11:00 am to 7:00 pm, and admission is free.

This exhibition promises an unforgettable odyssey into a realm, where art and emotion intertwines offering a glimpse into the whispered secrets of paradise – from the scenic naturescapes of Kashmir.
